Winter of 2017 through spring of 2018, I set out to ask young folks what they care about. Even before the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School turned their tragedy into a national movement, giving young people a platform like they’ve arguably never had before, I’d been wondering what sorts of issues were on adolescent minds. Teaching middle schoolers piqued my curiosity—it's pretty damn sobering to hear how 11 and 12 year olds interpret the issues plaguing our society today.
